Now that spring has finally sprung, I can't wait for summer days to be here again. There is something about all that sunshine, the new adventures that await us, and the smell of sunscreen mixed with bug spray that gets my heart pumping! Today I started my summer prepping with a few necessary spring chores.
I almost think that the new year should also be in spring. After all, this is when the earth is reborn. Plants and animals bring forth new life, rains wash away the spartan winter air, and humans focus on cleaning. We sift through old clothes and trinkets, finally finding the courage to get rid of what we no longer need. It really is a fresh start for everyone!
Summer Prepping: Organize Camping Supplies
I am not immune to this curious mood in the air that brings out the dusters, scrub brushes, and trash bags... so I headed out to the garage where my belongings are stored while I search for a job and home of my own. I spent the day reorganizing my camping supplies to prepare for my upcoming adventures.
Naturally, the next thing I had to do was make a list of all the gaps in my supplies. Some of them I could fill today, with help from my birthday spending money. Some of the items will have to wait until my income is more stable.
Summer Prepping: Vehicle Maintenance
I wouldn't be going anywhere without transportation! Unfortunately, my car got a nasty crack in its windshield on a dirt road I was on not too long ago. Realizing I was nearly ready to go out wandering again, I made the appointment with the insurance to have it fixed asap. Before I can hit the road again, it will also be in need of an oil change.
Summer Prepping: Practice Camping
The fun part was testing out my new supplies for camping. It's important for me to know how each item works and how easy it will be for me to use, even by myself in the backcountry (should something happen to my travel buddy). From intimately knowing my survival kit to being able to safely use my propane stove each bit of knowledge is essential for peace of mind once those summer days finally arrive.
In order to show and not tell, I will be including the full behind the scenes look at my day on my Vlog, Saturday at 5 p.m. MST!
How are you preparing for summer? Have you gotten any new camping gear you're really excited about? Where is your favorite beginning of summer camping spot?
